The Rules of Engagement... Part two...
So, your best friend in the entire universe is getting married. Simply put, whether it your GBF, BFF, or your family member... Gay or straight... There are five simple rules to engagement gifts. Firstly, the only reason you should be purchasing an engagement gift is if the couple has announced their engagement, formally, on paper... And it is followed with the statement of a formal engagement party. It is that time of year for couples, both gay and straight, to be getting engaged. So, secondly the rule for engagement gifts is the rule of a housewarming gift... Don't spend more than $50 and even that is pushing it. Here are 5 great gift ideas... Via
1.Cocktail Mixing Set... You can pick up great "bar tending" sets up for $25 at TJ Max #maxanista
2. Napkins of Linens... Not bedding... Too personal and too intimate. I love giving towels, especially if they are embroidered...I am always losing hand towels, and guest towels.
3. Glassware- champagne glasses, wine glasses, but the set should only be two- not four. House warming parties the sets would be 4-8.
4. Flowers- the easiest... Go pick up a bouquet and call it a day
5. Art- for those of you who are crafters, printing out a great photo of you all together in a nice frame works.
Engagement parties these days are kind of tricky because they are so rare. An engagement party should technically just be both families involved, and those who are being asked to be a part of the wedding party and revolving around a meal/dinner versus an actually party... for those who are casual, sometimes a BBQ happens.
