I was out the other night with friends having drinks, realizing that each of us ordered a very different drink. It got me thinking, what does your drink say about you? Here are four drinks you should avoid ordering when going out, with the exception of going out to get fucked up: Adios Mother Fucker, Long Island Iced Tea, Tokyo Tea, Death In the Afternoon. Personally, I think these drinks are for 21-year-olds. Get the most of your money to get fucked up. As you get older, you start to develop your drinking strides and personal taste influenced by personal diet, drinking effects and more.
Here is what I have noticed, using my friends and acquaintances as references. These references are when we are going out to a bar or club and ordering drinks... Not when dining.
Beer Drinkers: Tend to be more laid back guys. Chill personalities, and usually more of home bodies. A lot of DL, or "straight acting" guys tend to order the beer. Specialty beers, IPA orderers, and more indie cool guys. Wine Drinkers: Tend to be a little more uptight- but fake uptight. Most bars and clubs don't have high-end wine. They carry your typical grocery store wine bottles. So, they usually order wine just to swirl the glass- or they just don't like liquor. But who gets turnt up on wine beside OC Housewives. Martini Drinkers: Alcoholics. Kind of true. Martinis are pretty hardcore. I mean, they are pure gin or vodka. I'm a martini drinker, so I am slightly biased. Martinis are truly refined taste. Most of the time, martini drinkers are well dressed, and slightly stuck up. Cocktail Martinis: Fun guys. Don't like hardcore martinis, but enjoy the sophisticated life. A lot of cocktail martinis include fun night outs like cosmos, appletinis, lemon drops and other specialty martinis. Usually, cocktail martinis are ordered when celebrating something. Well and flavored soda, energy drink or another mixer: Guys who are there to drink to get buzzed. Usually, fun to dance with, party with and go out together. Another plus side, cheap date. Specific Liquor and water, soda water: Guys who are there to get generally buzzed but like the taste of alcohol. Guys who are at bars to socialize with friends or meet new people.
So, when we go out for drinks this is usually the first round: Tanqueray 10 Martini because they usually don't carry Nolet (me, fashion editor and writer) If I don't trust the bartender, I order Tanqueray and water. Kettle One and Soda Water (friend 1, stylish modern man on the conservative side, friendliest of the group) Double Vodka and Redbull with Orange (friend 2, laidback medical professional) Manhattan (friend 3, youngest in our group, sales rep, style between modern trend and urban cool) Specialty Drink (friend 4, classic American fashion, works in the arts, social but standoffish)
I've noticed, by what you drink, you attract guys who drink the same drink like you.
