As gay men we take pride in our closets, some of us, okay those who are fabulous and love clothes. So, as the current SS2015 collections hit the runway we are running around from show to show. Then somehow between coffee, wine, cocktails, and lunches, our lifestyle ends up all over our clothes. Stains. They are awful, especially when you spill coffee on your Roberto Cavalli Jacket, or your nieces start playing with your Prada bag. Yup, life happens. And clothes are meant to be worn, lived in and enjoyed. But, for the sake of looking clean and staying fabulous here are some tips in regards to stains.
In your car, or office keep an emergency kit: a lint brush roller, a tide bleach pen, a sewing kit (for when you have a torrid office affair and your shirt is ripped off and buttons go flying, just kidding), a brand new white button up, and shoe polish.
For those hard stains that need to be addressed right away, here are some home friendly stain removers:
If you heard your grandma talk about using club soda to remove stains, she was right. Also, liquid dishwasher detergent pretty much does the trick as well. For Red wine you can use salt and for ink, use hair spray. Glycerin gets out mustard, and for those of you who get the body oil marks on your shirt collars you can use shampoo. For those gym rats, you can use aspirin dissolved in water for those sweat stains. Sweat is hot, but stained armpits on a shirt is not.
